Obituary - Heike Mikschofsky


We are sad to announce that suddenly and unexpectedly, Dr. Heike Mikschofsky, who many of you will remember from the 2013 COST Action meeting in Rostock, passed away on the 8th of September 2016. Heike studied Biology at the University of Rostock and did her PhD at the Agricultural faculty where she was introduced to molecular farming. She dedicated most of her time to this topic for many years and made important contributions to plant made vaccines.

2nd annual meeting of the ISPMF in Ghent

For those who missed the great event, the programme and the book of abstracts are now available for download.

New president elected


During the ISPMF annual general meeting in Ghent, the members of the society elected George Lomonosoff as new president. 

Congratulations to George (left) and many thanks to Julian Ma (past president, right) for all his work during the last two years.


Plant Biotech 2016


Plant Biotech 2016, a joint meeting of the Canadian Society of Plant Biologists and the Canadian Association for Plant Biotechnology, will be held on June 19-21, 2016 at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.  Among others, three sessions will be dedicated to Molecular Farming and Crop Biotech. ISPMF is sponsoring the featured talk presented by Dr. Dominique Michaud for the first Molecular Farming session and entitled: “Targeted alteration of host cell functions for improved expression of biopharmaceuticals in plants”.

Workshop on “Plant Molecular Farming − III” in Coimbatore, India


The Department of Biotechnology, Bharathiar University and Institute for Infection & Immunity, St. George’s University of London, are jointly organizing a two-day workshop on “Plant Molecular Farming − III” in Coimbatore, India, supported by the UK-India Education

and Research Initiative, on 27-28th July 2016 .  

Following the success of previous workshops in 2012 and 2014, we will highlight latest developments in the area of Molecular Farming. This workshop will include hands on training and lectures from Academia and Industry experts.
